Wie kühl ist das Wasser, wie sonnig der Grund, 
Wie schwimmt sich's durch Fluthen, so frisch und gesund. 

Wie wohnt sich's so hell im krystallenen Haus, 
Wie schaut man vergnüglich durch Wogen hinaus.

Mein Kleid ist von Gold, das von Kindheit ich trug,
Ich brauch' nur zu athmen, so hab' ich genug.

Ich schiffe voll Lust aus der silbernen Bahn, 
Bin selber der Schiffer, bin selber der Kahn;

Bin selber das Ruder, bin selber Pilot,
Ganz nah' ist der Hasen, wenn Sturmwind mir droht.

Doch ruht aus den Fluthen die Sonne zumal,
So sonn' ich mich fröhlich im güldenen Strahl.

So leb' ich, so web' ich am Tage gesund, 
Und schlafe am Abend im wohligen Grund.
