by Karl Stieler (1842 - 1885)

Vor Accon
Language: German (Deutsch)
Da lieg' ich im fremden Land,
So wund seit Wochen,
Und über mein Leben ist
Der Spruch gesprochen.

Ich hab' mein Aug entwöhnt
Vom Sonnenglanze,
Und meine Hand entwöhnt
Von Schwert und Lanze.

Ich hab' mein Herz gelöst
Von Weib und Kinden,
Hab' meiner Thaten gedacht
Und meiner Sünden!

So grüß' ich euch tausendmal
Am Scheidewege --
O, wär' es deutsches Land,
Darin ich läge!
