by Friedrich Heinrich Oser (1820 - 1891)

Trinklied im Freien
Language: German (Deutsch)
Auf! ihr Brüder, schenket ein! --
Unter den schattigen alten Bäumen
O! wie läßt es schön sich träumen
Nachts beim hellen Lampenschein,
Und wie singt und trinkt sich's fein!

Auf! ihr Brüder, stoßet an! --
Unter den lieblichen lauen Westen,
Wehend in den grünen Ästen,
Machet All' auf weitem Plan
Froh den alten Tagen Bahn!

Auf! ihr Brüder, trinket aus! --
Doch auf's neue rasch ihr Zecher,
Füllt die Gläser füllt den Becher!
Bald der Morgenwind im Saus
Heißt die Sterne gehn nach Haus!

Note: the incipit given by Hofmeister for Abt's setting is the second line.
