by Carl Stelter (1823 - 1912)

Gute Stunden
Language: German (Deutsch)
Zähle nicht die bangen Stunden,
Die des Lebens Nacht entsteigen,
Zähle nur, wenn sie entschwunden,
Wie viel Sterne Dir sich zeigen.

Denn aus diesen lichten Sternen,
Die am Abendhimmel leuchten,
Kannst den sichern Trost Du lernen,
Daß sie Wolken nicht verscheuchten.

Immer, wenn die trüben wieder
In ihr Nichts zurückgesunken,
Blicken klar und mild hernieder
Diese goldnen Strahlenfunken.

So des Lebens gute Stunden,
Reich, unzählig wie die Sterne --
Möchten jedem sie bekunden
Wie er schwere tragen lerne!
