by Franz Alfred Muth (1839 - 1890)

Eine lust'ge Hochzeit wohl es war
Language: German (Deutsch)
Eine lust'ge Hochzeit wohl es war,
Die an den Bergen gezogen,
Der Bräutigam mit goldenem Haar
Hin über's Roß gebogen.

Die Braut im weißen Seidenkleid
Sah wie die duft'ge Rose,
Da sangen alle Vögel weit
Im grünen Waldesschoße[.]

Sie zogen still am schönen Hag,
Das Waldhorn klang so eigen;
Süß hallt es durch den Buchenschlag
Und durch die alten Eichen.

Noch seh ich sie am fernen Saum
So selig, so selig ziehen,
Als sei es nur ein schöner Traum
Im Mai, wenn Rosen blühen.

Confirmed with Franz Alfred Muth, Waldblumen. Lieder, Frankfurt am Main: Verlag von G.J. Hamacher, 1872, pages 11-12.
