by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)

Gegroet, o Vrouw, verheven
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Gegroet, o Vrouw, verheven
  ver boven 't aardsche dal;
gij zijt, -- het staat geschreven, --
  bevrijd van Adams val.
Wij vielen menigmalen,
  bedrogen door het kwaad,
maar zullen zegepralen,
zoo gij ons niet en laat.

Maria, laat ons hopen
  en doet, op ons gezang,
de hemeldeuren open,
al zijn wij arm en krank.
Komt helpt, door uw' gebeden,
  ons langs de harde baan
der booze wereld treden,
  en op uw stappen gaan.

Wij zien uw' zoete stralen,
  o sterre van de zee,
vol hope nederdalen
naar ons, in rampe en wee.
Ach! spijts de wilde baren,
  die bruisschen t' allen kant,
Maria, helpt ons varen,
  met u, naar 't Vaderland!
