by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)

't Is oorloge in de locht en in
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
't Is oorloge in de locht en in
de boomen;
de windt berent de Leye, en doet
ze stroomen
te bergewaard. Den oest zal, op
het veld,
de hagel slaan, en 's hemels wild
geweld!

't Is hooimaand. In den meersch is man
en vrouwe,
den arrebeid, om God en land,
getrouwe:
eenieder, haastig, henenvimt
en vorkt ...
Naar huis! De donder deunde daar
al! Horkt!

't Is heet! De zonne duikt heur in
de wolken.
'Te wapen!' roept er een: 'Waar zijn
de dolken?
De vijand is in 't land! 't Zij waar
hij zit,
bereidt den goedendag, en - elk
in 't lid!'
