by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)

't Is dag! 'k Ben uitgerust
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
't Is dag! 'k Ben uitgerust:
het voedzaam vaste slapen
heeft mij de ziel gewekt
en 't lichaam vrijgeschapen
van 's arbeids zwaren dwang,
die me op de schouderen lag;
en wakend heete ik u
Gods welkom, blijden dag!

't Is dag! 'k Gevoel 't, ik zie 't,
ik hoore 'et, aan het klinken
der vlugge vogelen, die,
in 't jongste schemerblinken
der morgenzon, hun lied
en de eerste klanken slaan,
die van 't herwekte dal
des aardsrijks henengaan.

't Is dag! Ik hoore, ik zie,
met nieuwgeboren stralen,
de zon heur evenbeeld
mij door de vensteren malen:
'Staat op!' zoo roept ze, 'o mensch,
het oosten kriekt alom;
staat op: weêr herbegint
ons dapper dagwerk! kom!'

'Staat op!' Zoo klinkt het woord,
het dagwoord van de zonne:
'staat op, o volk en vee
en vogels: in de bronne
des levens vroomt uw herte,
o kruid- en boomgestalt',
terwijl de middag bloeit
en eer de zonne valt!'
