by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)

o Heerlijk handgedaad
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
o Heerlijk handgedaad
van hoogst eerweerde handen,
o zonne, ziende alom,
doorpeilende alle landen;
doorwerkende, alderfijnst,
de fijnste wasdomwanden,
met leven, licht en groei!

Gegroet zijt mij, wanneer
ge, ontpriemende in den morgen,
het menschdom waken doet,
in blijdschap en in zorgen;
of zendt, alwaar gij zinkt
in peerschen doom geborgen,
uw' laatsten avondgloei!

o Diepheid, ongekend;
o rijkheid, onbeschreven;
o wondere weldaadbron,
o schoot, nooit uitgegeven;
vol levenwekkend licht,
vol lichtontwekkend leven,
vol lijf- en zielsgenot!

'k Aanbade u, waart gij niet,
zoo ik en mijns gelijken,
't zij sterren, die 'k alom
zie aan den hemel prijken;
't zij vogel, vissche of dier,
die land en zee berijken;
een' enkele blom van God!
