Alfons, gij zijt door God genood

[Alfons]1, gij zijt door God genood
ten hoogtijde en ter bruiloft groot,
waar Jesus zelf de Bruigom is,
na 't woord van Zijn beloftenis.
 
Hij is daar, in gedaanten niet
zoo als het hemelsch hof Hem ziet;
maar nederig en schier niet, in schijn,
daar wilt Hij tegenwoordig zijn.
 
't Zij Koning, Heere of Kerkprelaat,
die Jesus daar ontvangen gaat,
wat schilt het, of 't en zij misschien,
dat 't nederigst Hem is liefst gezien!

Welaan, gij zijt door Hem genood,
Alfons, en in Gods oogen groot
en weerdig; blijft God weerdig! Dan,
geen leed dat ooit u schaden kan!
