Verlangen
 (Sung text for setting by P. Viardot-García)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich weiss im grünen Walde
Ein Röslein wunderschön,
So jung, so zart entfaltet,
So lieblich anzusehn.

Es schaut aus grünen Blättern
Mich engelfreundlich an
Und lockt mit süßem Duften
Unwiderstehlich an.

Mich treibt's, an Herz zu drücken
Des Rösleins frische Zier;
Doch wehrt das scheue Zagen
Der jungen Liebe mir.

O möcht' sich's zu mir neigen
Das Röslein wunderhold;
Am Herzen wollt' ich's tragen,
Bis daß ich sterben sollt.
