by Oscar von Redwitz-Schmölz (1823 - 1891)

Rosen leuchten, Lilien blinken
Language: German (Deutsch)
Rosen leuchten, Lilien blinken,
Wo ich geh' durch's Waldrevier;
Und sie gaukeln und sie winken,
Und sie neigen sich zu mir.

Doch im Laub so fromm verstohlen,
Glänzt ein Blümlein makellos;
Und ich kniee, mir's zu holen,
Doch es drückt sich bang in's Moos.

Sieht mich an mit feuchten Augen
Wie ein banges, fragend Kind:
Ach, was soll denn ich dir taugen,
Wo so stolze Blumen sind?

Doch ich brech's mit trautem Kosen:
Liebes Blümlein, sei nur still!
Laß die Lilien, laß die Rosen!
Breche dich, weil Gott es will.
