Vom Nachen getragen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
   Vom Nachen getragen,
Mein Nachen [versinket]1,
Mein Leben verklaget,
Die Zukunft [ertrinket]2.

   Im Schilf ist ein Rauschen,
Im Grase ein Säuseln,
Die Vögel, sie lauschen,
Die Wellen, sie kreiseln,

   Die Sterne, sie schießen,
Und grüßen die Quellen,
Die Quellen, sie fließen
Zum Meere als Wellen.

   Da finden sich wieder,
Die hier sich verloren,
Der Liebe Gebrüder
Im Thale geboren.

   Des Schaumes Gefieder
Erglänzt im Gesange,
Ich höre die Lieder,
Ich athme schon bange.

Carried by the barque
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
   Carried by the barque,
My barque [sinks]1,
My life dissolves in lamenting,
The future [drowns.2

There is a soughing in the reeds,
In the grass a rustling,
The birds, they listen,
The waves, they circle.

   The stars, they come shooting
And greet the well-springs,
The well-springs, they flow
To the sea as waves.

There those who here have lost each other
Find each other again,
The brethren of love
Born in the valley.

   The plumage of the foam
Shines in singing,
I hear the songs,
I already breathe anxiously.
