Nacht ist wie ein stilles Meer

Language: German (Deutsch)

Nacht ist wie ein stilles Meer,
Lust und Leid und Liebesklagen
Kommen so verworren her
In dem linden Wellenschlagen.

Wünsche wie die Wolken sind,
Schiffen durch die stillen Räume,
Wer erkennt im lauen Wind,
Ob's Gedanken oder Träume? --

Schließ' ich nun auch Herz und Mund,
Die so gern den Sternen klagen,
Leise doch im Herzensgrund
Bleibt das linde Wellenschlagen.

De nacht is als een stille zee

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

De nacht is als een stille zee;
Lust en leed en liefdesklagen
Maken zo verward entree
In der golven zachte slagen.

Wensen, die ‘k in wolken vind,
Zie ik stil de lucht door komen;
Wie voelt in de lauwe wind
Of ’t gedachten zijn of dromen?

Sluit ik nu ook hart en mond,
Klagers die graag sterren storen,
Toch blijf diep in ’s harten grond
Ik steeds zacht de golfslag horen.
