An den Wassern zu Babel

An den Wassern zu Babel saßen wir und weineten, wenn an Zion wir gedachten. Unsere Harfen hingen an den Weiden, die da waren, denn daselbst hießen uns singen, die uns gefangen hielten, und hießen uns fröhlich sein in unserm Schmerze. „Singet uns doch ein Lied von Zion!“ Wie sollten wir in fremdem Lande singen des Herren Lied? Vergesse ich dein, Jerusalem, so vergesse ich meine Rechte! Mein Zunge klebe an dem Gaumen, lasse ich nicht Jerusalem meine höchste Freude sein!
