Ein Mägdlein ging im grünen Wald, suavis et formosa [reizend und schön],1 War schlank und lieblich von Gestalt, florens quasi rosa [wie eine blühende Rose]. Und sieh! da war ein stiller Teich, silva circumdata [vom Wald umgeben], Ach, wär' ich doch ein Fischlein gleich! cogitat ornata [denkt sie in ihren geschmückten Gewändern]. Und wie sie um und um sich sah, solitaria fuit [sie war ganz allein], Was meint ihr wohl, was da geschah? vestem hic exuit [dann entkleidete sie sich]. Von dem, was hier das Hündlein fand, tunicam heu! demit, [ach, es lief mit ihren Kleidern davon] O weh! laß mir mein weiß Gewand! virgo clamat, gemit [schreit die Jungfrau, stöhnend]. Das Hündlein sprang wohl her und hin, tunicam in ore [mit ihrem Gewand im Maul], Da lief ihm nach das Magedin, Cypris pulchrae more [wie eine schöne Venus]. Als endlich sie's ihm abgejagt, adest non viator [niemand kam vorbei], Schlüpft sie hinein und denkt verzagt: vidit me venator [sah mich ein Jäger]?

Una donzella anà al bosc verd, suavis et formosa [encisadora i formosa], era esvelta i de gràcil figura, florens quasi rosa [com una rosa florida]. I vet aquí! Allà hi havia un tranquil estany, silva circumdata [rodejat pel bosc], ai, si pogués ser com un peix! cogitat ornata [pensa en la seva sumptuosa vestimenta]. I com a tot el voltant veié solitaria fuit [que estava tota sola], què penseu que va passar? vestem hic exuit [ella es va desvestir]. Aleshores era a la vora de la riba, bella creatura [la bella criatura], com mai ningú l’havia vist puram in natura [en la seva pura naturalitat]. Llavors tots els ocells callaren formam mirabundae [meravellats de la seva figura], llavors saltironaren damunt les pedres appetentes undae [ones plenes de desig per ella]. Ella amb un púdic goig es ficà dins l’aigua quercu sub vetusta [dessota un vell roure] i es refrescà el seu blanc pit membraque venusta [i els seus encisadors membres]. De sobte, dels matolls saltà canis ad venandum [un gos de caça a l’acuit], la donzella dins l’aigua s’esglaià, quid nunc ad velandum [amb què es podia ara tapar]?
