Die Spinnerin

Language: German (Deutsch)

Als ich still und ruhig spann,
Ohne nur zu stocken,
Trat ein schöner junger Mann
Nahe mir zum Rocken.

Lobte, was zu loben war,
Sollte das was schaden?
Mein dem Flachse gleiches Haar,
Und den gleichen Faden.

Ruhig war er nicht dabei
Ließ es nicht beim Alten;
Und der Faden riß entzwey,
Den ich lang' erhalten.

Und des Flachses Stein-Gewicht
Gab noch viele Zahlen;
Aber, ach ich konnte nicht
Mehr mit ihnen prahlen.

Als ich sie zum Weber trug
Fühlt' ich was sich regen,
Und mein armes Herze schlug
Mit geschwindern Schlägen.

Nun, beim heißen Sonnenstich,
Bring' ich's auf die Bleiche,
Und mit Mühe bück' ich mich
Nach dem nächsten Teiche.

Was ich in dem Kämmerlein
Still und fein gesponnen,
Kommt - wie kann es anders seyn? -
Endlich an die Sonnen.

La fileuse

Language: French (Français) after the German (Deutsch)

Alors que je filais silencieuse et sereine,
Sans interruption,
Entra un beau jeune homme
Qui s'approcha de ma quenouille.

Loua  ce qu'il y avait à louer ;
Quelle honte à cela ?
Mes cheveux pareil au lin,
Ainsi que mon fil.

Cela ne le calma point,
Il ne laissa rien en place ;
Et cassa le fil en deux,
Je l'avait filé si longtemps.

Et le poids de pierre du rouet
Fit encore plusieurs tours ;
Mais hélas, je ne pouvais plus
M'en vanter.

Lorsque je le portai chez le tisserand,
Je sentais une agitation en moi,
Et mon pauvre cœur battait
À toute allure.

Maintenant, les jours de grand soleil
Je l'emporte à laver,
Et avec peine, je me penche
Au-dessus de l'étang le plus proche.

Ce que, dans ma petite chambre,
J'ai tissé, calmement et délicatement,
Arrive -- comment peut‑il en être autrement ? --
Enfin au soleil.
