Der Abend

Language: German (Deutsch)

Der Abend blüht,
[Temora]1 glüht
Im Glanz der tiefgesunknen Sonne.
Es küßt die See
Die Sinkende,
Von Ehrfurcht [schaudernd]2 und von Wonne.

Ein grauer Duft
Durchwebt die Luft,
Umschleyert [Daura's]3 güldne Auen.
Es rauscht umher
Das düstre Meer,
Und rings herrscht [ahnungsreiches]4 Grauen.

O trautes Land!
O heil'ger Strand!
O Flur, die jede Flur verdunkelt.
Flur, deren Schoß
Die Blum' entsproß,
Die alle Blumen überfunkelt.

Paart nicht den Schnee
Der Lilie
Die Holde mit der Gluth der Rosen.
Die Au', Ein Kranz
Voll Duft und Glanz,
Reicht ihr den Preis, der Tadellosen.

Ihr Ambraduft
Durchweht die Luft
Und würzet rings die Näh' und Ferne.
Und stirbt das Licht
Des Liedes nicht,
So reicht ihr Nam' einst an die Sterne.

O trautes Land,
O hehrer Strand,
Sey stolz auf deiner Blumen Blume.
Das heil'ge Meer
Und rings umher
Die Inseln huld'gen deinem Ruhme - -

Nacht hüllt den Strand,
[Temora]1 schwand.
Verlodert sind des [Spatroths]5 Gluthen.
Das Weltmeer grollt,
Und gluthrot rollt
Der Vollmond aus den düstern Fluthen.

De avond

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

De avond bloeit,
Temora1 gloeit,
De diep gezonken zon geeft glanzen.
Zij kust het meer,
De zinkende;
Het rilt beschroomd met wellustkransen.

Een nevelvlucht
Vaart door de lucht,
Omsluiert Daura's gouden gouwen.
Hij scheert gedwee
De duist're zee,
Alom heerst onheilspellend grauwen.

O dierbaar land!
O heilig strand!
O veld, dat ieder veld verdonkert;
Veld, uit welks schoot
De bloem ontsproot
Die alle bloemen overfonkelt.

Paart zij niet dit,
Het leliewit,
De lieve, met de gloed van rozen?
De gouw, een krans
Vol geur en glans
Reikt haar de prijs, de smetteloze.

Haar ambergeur
Verspreidt grandeur
En kruidt het al, nabij en verre,
En dooft dit lied
Zijn stralen niet,
Dan reikt haar naam eens tot de sterren.

O dierbaar land!
O vorst'lijk strand!
Houd altijd hoog jouw bloem der bloemen.
De heil'ge zee
En daar omheen
De eilandring hoor 'k zacht jou roemen.

Nacht hult het strand,
Het slot verzwond,
Vergloeid is 't luchtrood en bedolven.
De diepzee gromt
En gloedrood rolt
De volle maan uit duist're golven.
