Wenn schon die liebe ganze Nacht

Language: German (Deutsch)

Wenn schon die liebe ganze Nacht,
Der Sterne lichtes Heer
Hoch über dir im Wechsel wacht,
So hoffen sie noch mehr,
Daß auch dein Augenstern sie grüßt.
Erwach'! Sie warten drauf,
Weil du doch gar so reitzend bist,
Du süße Maid, steh auf!
Steh auf! steh auf!

Und wenn dich alles das nicht weckt,
So werde durch den Ton
Der Minne zärtlich aufgeneckt!
O dann erwachst du schon.
Wie oft sie dich ans Fenster trieb,
Das weiß sie; drum steh auf,
Und habe deinen Sänger lieb,
Da süße Maid, steh auf!
Steh auf! steh auf!

About the headline (FAQ)

Note: These stanzas were published with the posthumous edition of Schubert's song Ständchen in 1832, when the editor commissioned Friedrich Reil to create two additional stanzas. These stanzas were then carried over by Max Friedlaender into his Schubert Album (Peters Edition) which is still used today by many performers.

Daar al de ganse lieve nacht

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Daar al de ganse lieve nacht
Het lichte sterrenheer
Hoog boven je, traag draaiend, waakt,
Verhoopt het des te meer,
Dat ook jouw oogster groeten zendt.
Ontwaak!
