In de bossen zich verspreidt, en aroma's
Met de geuren van de linde

Dan omdonk'ren mij gedachten aan het graf
Van mijn geliefden, en ik zie de bossen
Slechts vol scheem'ring, en er waait mij
Van de bloesems niets aan.
 
Ik genoot dit, lieve doden, eens met u!
Hoe omwaaiden ons de geur en de koelte,
Hoe verfraaid was door het maanlicht,
