Hier steht der Wand'rer nun

Language: German (Deutsch)

Aria: Lukas
 Hier steht der Wand'rer nun,
 verwirrt und zweifelhaft,
 wohin den Schritt er lenken soll.
 Vergebens suchet er den Weg;
 ihn leitet weder Pfad, noch Spur.
 Vergebens strenget er sich an,
 und watet durch den tiefen Schnee;
 er find't sich immer mehr verirrt.
 Jetzt sinket ihm der Mut,
 und Angst beklemmt sein Herz,
 da er den Tag sich neigen sieht,
 und Müdigkeit, und Frost
 ihm alle Glieder lähmt.
 Doch plötzlich trifft sein spähend Aug
 der Schimmer eines nahen Lichts,
 da lebt er wieder auf;
 vor Freuden pocht sein Herz.
 Er geht, er eilt der Hütte zu,
 wo starr und matt er Labung hofft.

Qui ora si arresta il viandante

Language: Italian (Italiano) after the German (Deutsch)

Aria: Luca
 Qui ora si arresta il viandante,
 che, smarrito, è colto dal dubbio
 su dove debba dirigere il suo passo.
 Invano cerca la direzione giusta;
 né tracce né sentieri gli fanno da guida.
 Invano egli si affatica,
 e affonda il passo nella neve attorno;
 sempre di più smarrisce la strada.
 Già gli manca il coraggio,
 e l'angoscia gela ormai il suo cuore,
 perché volge alla fine il giorno,
 e la stanchezza e il gelo
 le membra paralizzano.
 Ma tutt'a un tratto al suo sguardo errante
 appare il chiarore di una luce vicina,
 e si sente rivivere;
 la gioia gli fa balzare il cuore.
 E avanza, verso quella capanna,
 dove, debole e irrigidito, spera di trovare ristoro.
