Trinklied vor der Schlacht

Language: German (Deutsch)

    Schlacht, du brichst an!
Grüßt sie in freudigem Kreise,
Laut nach germanischer Weise.
     Brüder heran!

     Noch perlt der Wein;
Eh' die Posaunen erdröhnen,
Laßt uns das Leben versöhnen.
     Brüder schenkt ein!

     Gott Vater hört,
Was an des Grabes Thoren
Vaterlands Söhne geschworen.
      Brüder, ihr schwört!

     Vaterlands Hort,
Woll'n wir's aus glühenden Ketten
Todt oder siegend erretten. -
     Handschlag und Wort!

     Hört ihr sie nahn!
Liebe und Freuden und Leiden,
Tod! du kannst uns nicht scheiden!
     Brüder stoßt an!

     Schlacht ruft! hinaus!
Horch, die Trompeten werben.
Vorwärts auf Leben und Sterben!
     Brüder trinkt aus!

Chanson à boire avant la bataille

Language: French (Français) after the German (Deutsch)

Bataille, tu commences !
Saluons-la en une joyeuse compagnie,
Fort, dans le style allemand,
Frères, par ici !

Le vin pétille encore,
Devant les trompettes résonnent,
Réconcilions-nous avec la vie,
Frères, versez à boire !

Dieu le Père entend,
À la tombe par Thor
Les fils de la patrie sont voués.
Frères, il vous le jure !

Le trésor de la patrie
Nous voulons le sortir des chaînes brûlantes,
Morts ou victorieux, nous serons délivrés, --
Une poignée de main et une parole !

Les entendez-vous approcher ?
L'amour, la joie et la souffrance !
Mort ! tu ne peux pas nous séparer.
Frères, frappons !

La bataille appelle ! En avant !
Écoutez, les trompettes nous demandent,
En avant, à la vie, à la mort !
Frères, buvons !
