Tenden raad en tenden reden
Language: French (Français)
Tenden raad en tenden reden,
vol [van angste en pijnlijkheden]1,
     bidde ik, onbevlekte Maagd:
voor uw kind nu zorge draagt!

Cana zag u, zonder schromen,
voor twee schaamle tusschenkomen,
     in 't gebrek van bruiloftwijn:
     wilt mij ook indachtig zijn!

Bruiloftwijn, noch bruiloftkoeken,
dat en durve ik u verzoeken;
maar verleent mij werk en brood,
     anders moet ik morgen dood!

Morgen, neen, gij zult mij heden,
moeder van bermhertigheden,
laten, - wilt en 't zal geschiên, -
     u bedanken, op mijn knien!

U bedanken en verkonden
dat gij zijt, op alle stonden,
     alle streken, west of oost,
     schamel' lieden hope en troost!
