by Charles Polydore de Mont (1857 - 1931), as Pol de Mont

Wat had het hutje zo menig gat
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Wat had het hutje zo menig gat,
waar het maagdeken met haar Kindeken zat!
    ‘Susa nina, susa soem!
Mijn Kind is des hemels schoonste bloem!’

Er was geen venster, er was geen deur...
In het dak was zoo menige reet en scheur...
    ‘Susa nina, susa soem!
Mijn Kind is des hemels schoonste bloem!’

Door de reten floot zoo scherpe wind,
door de zoldering sneeuwde het op het kind. --
    ‘Susa nina, susa soem!
Mijn Kind is des hemels schoonste bloem!’

Maria wiegde het Kind op haar schoot,
en kuste zijn ijskoude wangjes rood...
    ‘Susa nina, susa soem!
Mijn Kind is des hemels schoonste bloem!’

Sint Jozef nam het zoo zacht op zijn kniën,
En sprak: "Groote eer moet U geschiën!" --
    ‘Susa nina, susa soem!
Mijn Kind is des hemels schoonste bloem!’

En de os en het heel klein ezelkijn
aanbaden het zoete Kindekijn --
    ‘Susa nina, susa soem!
Mijn Kind is des hemels schoonste bloem!’
