by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)

Ich muß ins Feld, ich will dich meiden

Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich muß ins Feld, ich will dich meiden,
Wenn auch mein Herz mir widerspricht;
Von deiner Nähe werd' ich scheiden,
Von meiner Liebe kann ich nicht.

Ins Feld hinaus!  Das heißt nich meiden;
Denn meine Seele scheidet nicht.
Ja, mich erwarten hohe Freuden,
Und ich erfülle meine Pflicht.

Ich muß ins Feld! Warum nicht scheiden?
Dir sei die Thräne, mir die Pflicht.
Nun lebewohl!  Es ist kein Leiden;
Ich bleibe dein! Vergiß mich nicht!
