Som før var vant at rinde. 
Saa dirred ogsaa de Nerver til Ro, 
Og Sandserne alle blev blinde. 
Og Hjertet og Hjernen virker ej mer, 
Du er kun Støv nu og livløst Ler. 
Lad længes, lad grædes med Evighedssavn, 
Der er kun en Stofhob, en Daad og et Navn. 

For alle gode Tanker de kan slet ikke dø, 
Før endnu bedre Tanker er spired af deres Frø.
