by Heinrich Leuthold (1827 - 1879)

Auf den Alpen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Frühling ist auferstanden,
Hoch steh' ich über den Landen;
Ob mir die Kuppen von Eise,
Hier zackige Felsenfluh,
Und unten blühen die Matten;
Die Sennerin ruht im Schatten,
Sie singt eine Hirtenweise
Und jauchzt und jodelt dazu.

O könnt' ich in diesen Gauen
Mir eine Hütte bauen!
Nach Lorbeer und nach Palmen
Ging' nimmer mein Begehr;
Die Sehnsucht nach dem Süden
Begrüb' ich in diesem Frieden;
O daß ich auf diesen Almen
Ein froher Hirte wär!

Thalwärts die Schritte lenk' ich,
An Lenz und Liebe denk' ich;
Mein Herz ist fast gebrochen
Vor Wonne und Frühlingslust;
Es fallen die Blütenflocken,
Es läuten die Herdenglocken
Und werdende Lieder pochen
An meine junge Brust.
