Confirmed with Gedichte von Ludewig Heinrich Christoph Hölty. 1804, pages 191-192.
This is the version of Hölty's poem heavily reworked by Voß. For the original version, with the title Minnelied, see below.

Bliss and joys enthral ---------- High in Heaven's hall; ---------- Angel chimes in chorus, Others have sung before us; There I'd raise my voice, -------- Always to rejoice. Down on every side ----------- Smiles a heavenly bride; ----------- Harp and psalt'ry sounding, Dancing and song abounding; There I'd raise my voice, ------- Always to rejoice. Here I'd rather be, -------- If you'd smile at me; ----------- One small glance returning Soothing my ceaseless yearning Here I'd stay by choice, ---------- Always to rejoice.
Alternative title: "Rejoicing"
Note: Phrases marked in Blue indicate varied word pattern with three syllables in one bar, each with its own quaver note (i.e. no ties as elsewhere). These do not affect the melody as notated, and as they occur in an identical position in each verse, they have been left in as a feature . . . . but could easily be adapted back to retain the more usual 1...3 pattern, should such retention be deemed desirable.
