–la niarada avorrida.
Juliol ens duu l’aram
dins la posta beneïda.
Les garbes dormen al camp,
que la sega ja és finida.
El repòs del verd fullam
a l’ocellada convida.
Les garbes dormen al camp,
garbes seques, sense vida.
Passa l’euga com un llamp,
sense fer cas de la brida.
Les garbes dormen al camp
i l’ombra l’ha esfereïda.
Ai, encara servo el ram,
i l’estimada és partida...

the quail follows the decoy
-- the brood neglected.
July brings the colour of copper
to the blessed setting.
The sheaves sleep in the field,
reaping is finished.
The calm of the green foliage
attracts the flock of birds.
The sheaves sleep in the field,
dry sheaves, lifeless.
The mare moves past, quick as lightning,
without care of the bridle.
The sheaves sleep in the field
and the shadow startled her.
Oh, I still keep the bouquet,
and the beloved is gone…
The sheaves sleep in the field.
God gives them a good rest!
