Auf glatten Fluten schwamm der Abendstern,
Ein grünlich Gold umdämmerte die Fluren:
Die Türme Lübecks spiegelten sich fern,
Und leise zog der Nachen, drin wir fuhren.

Die Luft ward kühl, Gesang und Scherz zerrann
Gemach in traulich flüsterndes Gekose,
Ein weißer Mädchenarm griff dann und wann
Ins feuchte Blau nach einer Wasserrose.

Nachdenklich saß die Lieblichste der Schar,
Ein sechzehnjährig blühend Kind am Steuer;
Den wilden Efeukranz im lock'gen Haar,
Fast glich sie jener, die mir einst so teuer.

Und plötzlich stand es vor der Seele mir,
Mein ganzes Glück, mein ganzes Leid von weiland,
Und tiefe Sehnsucht fiel mich an nach dir,
Du meiner Jugend fernverschollnes Eiland!

L’Estel del capvespre
Language: Catalan (Català)  after the German (Deutsch) 
En aigües calmes surava l’Estel del capvespre,
un daurat verdós llostrejava els camps,
les torres de Lübeck s’emmirallaven al lluny
i, silenciós, navegava el bot en el que anàvem.

L’aire era fresc, els cants i les rialles s’esvanien
poc a poc en cordials, xiuxiuejants carícies,
el braç blanquinós d’una noia agafava de tant en tant
un nenúfar en l’aigua blava.

Pensativa, la més bonica de la colla seia al timó,
una esplendorosa noia de setze anys,
una corona d’heura salvatge en els seus cabells rinxolats,
s’assemblava quasi a aquella que jo en altre temps vaig estimar.

I, tot d’una, aparegueren davant la meva ànima
la meva completa felicitat, tota la meva pena d’abans
i em copsà una profunda nostàlgia de tu,
llunyana illa perduda de la meva joventut!
