Le faune

Contre un buste de faune aux lèvres pipeaux,
Souriant au regard de sa jeune compagne
Bruni par le soleil musclé, vêtu de peaux,
Le berger joue un air que la source accompagne.
Dans la prairie on voit le dos blanc des troupeaux
Le soir verse du bleu sur toute la campagne,
Les travailleurs, hâtifs, vont chercher le repos
Et le temple s’efface en haut de la montagne
Et sous les souples doigts du petit pâtre brun
Au lieu des sons légers qu’il égrenait, c’est un
Sanglot plaintif et long qui sort du roseau frêle
L’amante inquiète un peu regarde son amant
Le berger la rassure en se penchant vers elle
Et le faune sourit énigmatiquement!
