Dès que le soleil sera moins brûlant 
nous irons jouer sur les bords du fleuve, 
nous lutterons pour un crocos frêle 
et pour une jacinthe mouillée.

Nous ferons le collier de la ronde 
et la guirlande de la course. Nous nous prendrons 
par la main et par la queue de nos tuniques.

Phitta Meliaï ! donnez-nous du miel. Phitta Naïades ! 
baignez-nous avec vous. Phitta Méliades ! donnez l'ombre 
douce à nos corps en sueur.

Et nous vous offrirons, Nymphes bienfaisantes, 
non le vin honteux, mais l'huile et le lait 
et des chèvres aux cornes courbes.
