possibly by Benjamin Louis Paul Godard (1849 - 1895)

Ronde
Language: French (Français)
Vois, là-bas, sur les riants coteaux,
Les bergers, les jeunes pastoureaux
Font danser de gentilles fillettes
Aux gais refrains de leurs musettes.
Sautez, Courez, Valsez, Tournez
En ronds sur l'herbe nouvelle ;
Aimez, Chantez, Causez, Riez
Aux sons de la ritournelle.

Nous allons, mignonne, si tu veux
Prendre part à leurs ébats joyeux ;
Et, tout bas, pendant la valse même,
Je te dirai combien je t'aime.
Partons, Courons, Allons en ronds
Danser sur l'herbe nouvelle ;
Chantons, Aimons, Causons, Rions
Aux sons de la ritournelle.

Puis, ce soir, quand l'ombre s'étendra
Sur le ciel où la lune luira,
Tous les deux, pour rentrer au village,
Nous reviendrons par le bocage
Sautant, Courant, Valsant, Tournant
Encor sur l'herbe nouvelle ;
Chantant, Riant, Causant gaiment
Aux sons de la ritournelle.
