Je suis fou de la fille du roi de Chine
Comme le beau Camaralzaman ;
Je suis fou de la fille du roi de Chine
Et dans mon rêve ensorceleur, je m'imagine
Être son prince charmant.
Je m'imagine être ce prince de rêve
Et je voudrais écrire comme Li-Taï-Pé
Des vers berceurs sur la fleur de ses lèvres
Et sur le croissant de ses sourcils coupés
Que l'art du pinceau savant achève.
Pourtant, je sais bien que ses yeux irisés
Ne me souriront pas sans doute,
Que ses lèvre ne s'ouvriront pas au baiser
Pour l'amoureux qui passe sur la route
Sans bouton de cristal à briser.
Mais malgré tout, mon rêve jamais ne se repose
De suivre le sillage de sa jupe close ;
Et, triste, il se meurtrit de jouer sans cesse
Autour de sa robe odorante de princesse,
Comme un papillon grisé près d'une rose.
