by André Lebey (1877 - 1938)

Comme des barques sur la mer
Language: French (Français)
Comme des barques sur la mer
Mes espérances sont allées
Vers des infinis d'outre-mer
Par delà les terres rêvées.

Comme des barques dans l'aurore
Matinales et pavoisées
Sur les vagues qu'un soleil dore,
Elles crurent aux traversées.

Comme des barques dans la nuit
Elles errèrent incertaines,
Regrettant déjà d'avoir fui
La rade pour des côtes vaines.

Comme des barques dans l'orage
Loin des refuges espérés,
Elles luttèrent de courage...
La plupart furent submergées.

Comme des barques dans le port,
Les quelques-unes retrouvées,
Craintives d'aller vers la mort,
Attendent, voiles repliées.
