Sinisirje linnukene,
sinisirje, kulde kirje
lendas meie koppelisse.

Kolm oli põesast koppelissa:
üks oli siine põesas,
teine oli punane põesas,
kolmas kullal kirjutatud.

Põlgas ta sinise põesa,
põlgas ta punase põesa,
võttis kulda armaaksi.

Hakkas ta pesa tegema.
Tegi kuu, tegi kaksi, 
tegi tüki kolmat kuuda,
nädaliku neljat kuuda,
viiendiku viiet kuuda.

Hakkas ta mune munema.
Munes kuu, munes kaksi,
munes kuu kolmat kuuda,
nädaliku neljat kuuda,
veerandiku viiet kuuda.

Hakkas poegi haudumaie.
Haudus kuu, haudus kaksi,
haudus kuu kolmat kuuda,
nädaliku neljat kuuda,
veerandiku viiet kuuda.

Üks sai kuuks Kuuramaale,
teine päevaks Pärnumaale,
kolmas ilmale imeksi,
neljas täheks taevaaksi,
viies vikerkaariks veeremaie.

Ein blauer Vogel,
ein blau-goldener Vogel
flog auf uns’re Wiese.

Dort standen drei Büsche:
ein blauer,
ein roter,
und der dritte war golden.

Er verschmähte den blauen,
er verschmähte den roten,
doch den goldnen liebte er.

Er begann ein Nest zu bauen:
einen Monat lang, einen weiteren,
einen dritten,
eine Woche im vierten Monat
und noch kurze Zeit im fünften.

Er legte Eier:
einen Monat lang, einen weiteren,
einen dritten,
eine Woche im vierten Monat
und noch kurze Zeit im fünften.

Er begann, sie auszubrüten:
einen Monat lang, einen weiteren,
einen dritten,
eine Woche im vierten Monat
und noch kurze Zeit im fünften.

Ein Küken wurde zum Mond über Kurland,
das zweite zur Sonne über Pernio,
das dritte wurde die Welt,
das vierte wurde zu Sternen,
das fünfte wurde zum Regenbogen.
