by Louis de Courmont (1828 - 1900)

En paradis
Language: French (Français)
Tous ceux qui s'aimèrent jadis
D'un amour tendre,
Après la mort, en Paradis,
Peuvent s'attendre.

Oh ! Quels rêves délicieux
Ils doivent faire,
Quand l'espoir abaisse leurs yeux
Vers cette terre !

Pour eux quelle félicité !
Comme ils bénissent
Dieu, lorsque dans l'éternité
Leurs mains s'unissent !

Les anges volent autour d'eux ;
Et sur leur trace
De parfums, d'échos amoureux,
S'emplit l'espace.

Pour moi seule ne luira pas
Ce jour splendide ;
Mon coeur, là-haut comme ici-bas,
Restera vide !

Car, celui que j'aimais jadis
D'amour si tendre,
Après la mort en Paradis
Ne puis attendre.
