L'antique fontaine

Sous sa voûte de lierre dru,
l'antique fontaine pleure l'heure écoulée
et les dieux disparus,
par le triple sanglot de ses trois ruisselets.
Jadis la nymphe nue s'y voyait érigée
debout sur la coquille ;
ou bien encore, narquois,
le faune adolescent faisait l'amusant simulacre
de marier le son ténu de sa syrinx de pierre
à celui, limpide, de l'eau
sous le lierre.
Et puis vinrent les temps ingrats
et la voûte fut vide et la socle vert désert.
Mais moi, maître actuel de la source et du champ,
je fais le vœux d'orner d'une image divine
la place consacrée 
et dis qu'un jour prochain,
un Hermès bleu, tête penchée,
d'un index attentif fera signe d'écouter l'eau.
