by Eino Leino (1878 - 1926)

Mirjamin laulu II
Language: Finnish (Suomi)
En itke huomenen huoliain,
vaan itken entistä onneain,
ma muistan raitojen rakkautta,
ja sinikukkien siskoutta, –
ja moni kyynel silmästäni kierii.

Ma muistan muinoista aikoain,
kun orjan lapsi ma olin vain,
kun paioin karkehin, avokauloin,
ma ison tarhassa tanssin, lauloin, –
ja moni kyynel silmästäni kierii.

Mun tunsi siellä jok’ kukkanen,
ma tunsin riemut ja surut sen,
mä yössä ymmärsin tähtein kielen
ja päivin pääskyn ja leivon mielen, –
ja moni kyynel silmästäni kierii.

Nyt enää ymmärrä niitä en,
ma linnan korkea lapsonen,
nyt siniverka on siskojani
ja kullat, helmet mun heimoani, –
ja moni kyynel silmästäni kierii.
