from Volkslieder (Folksongs)

Guten Tag, Herr Gärtnersmann
Language: German (Deutsch)
Guten Tag, Herr Gärtnersmann,
haben Sie Lavendel,
Rosmarin und Thymian,
und ein wenig Quentel?

"Ja, Mamsell, das haben wir,
draußen in dem Garten.
Will Mamsell so gnädig sein
und ein wenig warten.

Bursche, bring den Sessel her
mit den goldnen Spitzen,
will Mamsell so gütig sein
und ein wenig sitzen?"

Und der junge Gärtner ging
freudig in sein Gärtchen
und sein ganzes Herzchen hing
an dem schönem Mädchen.

Rosen band er einen Strauß,
Thymian daneben;
als er ihr das Sträußchen gab
flossen seine Tränen.
