Wir sind einander zugesellt
Für alle Ewigkeit,
Uns scheidet nicht die ganze Welt
Mit ihrer Schlechtigkeit.

Der weiß ja nicht, was Lieben ist,
Der an ein Scheiden denkt,
Wenn zweie sich so recht geküßt,
Sich Leib und Seel' geschenkt.

So lieben wir uns immerdar,
Die ganze Sommerszeit,
Und lieben uns das ganze Jahr,
Bis daß es friert und schneit.

Und kommt der Tag, der kein Tag ist,
Und muß ich fort von dir,
Dein Herz doch meiner nicht vergißt,
Es findet sich zu mir.

Denn ob der Schnee zur Erde fällt,
Und blühn die Rosen rot,
Wir sind einander zugesellt
Im Leben und im Tod.

Me kuulumme yhteen
ikuisesti,
ei meitä erota mikään maailmassa
kaikkine kataluuksineen.
 
Ei sellainen tiedä, mitä rakkaus on,
joka edes ajattelee erota,
kun kaksi ihmistä on kunnolla suudellut,
lahjoittanut toisilleen ruumiinsa ja sielunsa.
 
Niin me aina vaan rakastamme toisiamme,
koko kesän ajan,
ja rakastamme koko vuodenkin,
kunnes pakastaa ja sataa lunta.
 
Ja jos se päivä tulee, joka ei mikään päivä olekaan,
ja minun täytyy lähteä luotasi,
sinun sydämesi ei minua unohda,
se on aina luonanani.
 
Sillä satoipa sitten lunta,
vai kukkivatko punaiset ruusut,
me pysymme yhdessä
elämässä ja kuolemassa.
