by Karl August von Hase (1800 - 1890)

Der Sänger
Language: German (Deutsch)
Lächelnd ist der Sänger hingeschieden,
liegt so schön im Rosenblüten-Sarg.
All sein Hoffen ruht im ewigen Frieden,
alle Taten, die sein Herz noch barg.
Wie der Lorbeer, den der Sturm geknicket,
ruht er. Welten hätt' er gern beglückt.
