Sehnsucht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie hab' ich mir den Lenz ersehnt
Mit seinen lieben Spenden,
Da sich der blaue Himmel dehnt
Und alle Leiden enden.

Nun blaut der Himmel klar darein,
Der Frühling ist gekommen
Mit Amselsang und Sonnenschein,
Und doch will mir's nicht frommen.

Ich weiß nicht, wem mein Sehnen gilt:
Der Winter ist vertrieben,
Die Blüte treibt, die Knospe schwillt --
Die Sehnsucht ist geblieben.

Confirmed with Deutsches Museum, achter Jahrgang, ed. by Robert Eduard Prutz, Leipzig: F. A. Brockhaus, 1858, pages 788 - 789. Appears in Junge Lieder, no. 1.
