Min själ, vak upp ur dina tunga drömmar,
se allting jublar, mark och lundar tala,
och vederkvickelse från höjden strömmar,
min själ, vak upp, min själ låt dig hugsvala.

Ej ängslans mörka makter mer dig kväve,
och dådlöst tvivels sjuka tankar vike,
fritt över kvalm och dunkel högt du sväve.
Dig själv förtro, din sköna längtans rike!

Ren luftens röster och det tysta suset
i dunkla träd en gryning spå som bräcker:
min själ, finns ingen röst som dig uppväcker!

Min själ, vak upp, dig höj på spänstig vinge,
och utur mörkret stark din längtan svinge:
jag skall, jag vill, ja måste fram till ljuset!

sieh, alles jubelt, Flur und Hain erzählen,
Erquickung strömt herab aus hohen Räumen,
mein’ Seel’, wach auf, mein’ Seel’ lass dich entquälen.

Nicht dunkler Mächte Ängste mehr dich drücken,
und trägen Zauderns kranke Pläne schwinden,
frei über Dunst und Dunkel wirst du schweben.
Vertrau - was du ersehnst, das wirst du finden!

Der Lüfte Stimmen und ein leises Klingen -
im dunklen Hain ein Dämmer sich ankündet:
Mein’ Seel’, zu wecken dich, sich niemand findet.

Mein’ Seel’, wach auf, die Flügel auszubreiten,
aus Finsternis ins Sehnsuchtsland zu gleiten:
