from Volkslieder (Folksongs)
Translation by Josef Wenzig (1807 - 1876)

Mädchenlied
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Czech (Čeština)
Ährelein, ach Ährelein,
ei, wer wird euch binden?
Mein Geliebter weilet fern,
will ihn schon noch finden!

Mütterchen, ach Mütterchen,
bin von losem Blute;
nimm das Beschen, feg' mich rein
von dem Übermute!

Meine Goldpantöffelein,
bin zu schwer zum Hüpfen;
Mutter, liebes Mutterlein,
will ins Häubchen schlüpfen!

Grüne, junges Eichelein,
frisch auf deinem Plätzchen!
Grolle du, nur du mir nicht,
o mein süßes Schätzchen!
