Am Morgen

Die Gräser strecken und recken sich,
es funkelt im Frühlicht der junge Tau,
der Schmetterling holt seinen Morgentrunk
aus Kelchen der Blumen rot und blau.

Da steigt eine Lerche hoch in die Höh'
und schmettert ihr Lied so jubelnd hell!
Erhebe, mein Mädchen, vom Lager dich
und strecke die weichen Glieder schnell,

und lass' von den schwellenden Lippen rot
mich trinken den süßen Morgenkuss
und sage das Wort: Ich liebe dich,
dann klingt's wie der Lerche Jubelgruß!
