by Jane Gernandt-Claine (1862 - 1944)

Giv icke rosor, skymning
Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Skymning, giv mig ej rosor,
blundande glömska mig giv.
Dagen har varit dunkel
och svept i moln som mitt liv,
och jag sitter vid fönstret,
men kan ej se att sy;
längst därnere i väster brinner
en rosensky, en rosensky,
som speglar sin glöd i min egen håg,
bortom tysta tankars sakta glidande tåg....

Skymning, giv mig ej rosor,
glömska, glömska mig giv!
Dagen är död och jag sydde
en svepeduk till mitt liv,
men varför tändes en flamma,
när det lider mot natt och höst,
varför går jag mot kvällen
med en purpurbrand i mitt bröst?
