Plaví sa mesiačik oblohú nebeskú, 
rozmýšľa si zbojník, idúc horskú cestú.
Sekeru v ruke má, tak si horekuje: 
„Nač som sa dal, Bože, na cesty nepravé?

Dom svoj som opustil, stal som sa zbojníkom, 
tej zbojníckej banky, jejich kamarátom.
Medzi nima žijem, sám seba sa bojím, 
na strach a na úzkosť, pocestných nevinných.

Išiol bych aj domov, čo budem mať z toho, 
keď v mojom rodisku nemám viac nikoho? 
Rodičia zomreli, dom náš je zvalený, 
pre mňa už len hrozná šibenica stojí.“
