De schuiten hebben den dag volbracht.
Zij drijven terug naar de goede haven.
Achter de kim ligt de zon begraven
onder den troost van roode pracht.1)
 
Wind is er haast niet, maar de sterke vloed
draagt ze vriendelijk, alle gelijk naar binnen,
den wijden, veiligen mond tegemoet,
waar de hoofden hun wachtende omarming beginnen.
