Behold the great priest

Behold the great priest,
who, in his days, pleased God.
Therefore the Lord made a vow:
that his people would increase [in number].
He gave his blessing of all of the people to him,
and confirmed His testament
upon his head.

About the headline (FAQ)

Note: the text is based on Sirach/Ecclesiastes 44:20, 22-23, 25. The first four lines of the text are the opening Responsory sung at the Reception of a Bishop.
In line 1, "Sacerdos" refers to both Abraham and to a bishop, who may stand in his place.
